As a warm up we ran from Marco’s house to the start. In these 8 minutes it was hard to breathe because there was no oxygen in the air and it was warm. Just waking up didn’t help either. In the run were a few steep climbs up to one of the highest peaks of The Netherlands, an astonishing 100m towering above sea-level!!!! The run was rather hard and after 15k I finished in 1:12:53. There was vlaai for every participant, two pieces tasted even better.
Marco started as the very last person his epic race. Crossing the start as 2089th and overtaking more than half of the field he finished as 935th in 1:16. He hoped to beat me, because then he said he can finish his running career. Although he came within a few minutes, he has to continu training until one day……
